A Chinese gilt bronze Tripod Censer, of typical circular form with two loop handles, raised on three conical supports, seal mark to base, 13.5cm long handle to handle, on a plinth base.
Provenance; Col. R.L Vance RAMC (Indian Medical Service) serving in India and Tibet in the early 20thC, up until the 1930's, by family tradition having received items as personal gifts from grateful patients.
Regarding condition; please see image attached. There are some knocks around the body, the largest one is shown in the image on the left hand side. In addition, there is an area in the photograph just below the rim that is either a manufacturing fault or perhaps an area of repair? Hopefully the image is clear. I also wonder if perhaps the censer and base are a marriage and not originally together, they do however fit well.
Weight of censer: 642g
Weight of stand: 295g
External rim diameter: 11.5cm.
